This design was inspired by a chaekgado - painting of the scholar’s library - which dates to the late 18th century of the Joseon Dynasty. It was the first time that the Western linear perspective was introduced by slanting the lines of the shelves. I exaggerated this with a central vanishing point. The other objects are either imported from the West or traditional symbols of scholarship, longevity, fertility, etc.
